Feb 2: Ace of the Month. Ace was Sandra Watkins and Queen was Ellen Koury, Elisssa Hamilton was 3rd.

Feb 9:  First 4 and last Five. 1st place, Pauly Schoolcraft, 2nd Place Ellen Koury, 3rd Place, Donna Williams.

Feb 16: Long John’s. 1st Place Sandra Watkins, 2nd Place, Ellen Koury, 3rd Place, Kathryn Christenson.

This & That

On February 2, we held a general meeting. Ellen related information about our the new Course Superintendent, Sylvester Lucas. Sounds like there a lot of good things planned for the future. Welcome Mr. Lucas.

The Most Improved player of the Month for January was Sandra Watkins.

One of our favorite members, Anita Mareschal had knee replacement surgery so we will miss her for a while. Hoping for a quick recovery for Anita.

Our president, Ellen Koury, attended a meeting of Presidents at SDCWGA to discuss coming changes. In 2018 all women’s associations in Southern California will be folded into SCGA. Handicapping will be changed and will be done by SCGA and USGA. Membership dues will increase considerably. SDCWGA will still be operating—just not doing handicapping, rating, rules, etc. SDCWGA will continue to run  tournaments and team play for women in the San Diego area. The dues at present for SCGA are higher than the dues we have been paying to SDCWGA. In addition, all members of SCGA will be members of USGA so we will be paying dues to the USGA too. Many changes coming.  We can expect the dues to go up in 2018.

Our Women’s Club continues to grow. So far this month we have two more new members. Welcome to Gayle Beasley and Donna Huhn.
