Golf tournament was a wild success

Community

What a day! The inaugural golf tournament with the new staff and Boulder Oaks and the Hidden Meadows Community Foundation (HMCF) was a wild success! The November weather could not have been better for the event as nearly 60 golfers gathered for a shotgun tournament.
The tournament was played using best ball format, where each team member hit their drive, then the team hit from the location of the best ball until the ball made it to the cup. The winning team, Mike Thogmartin, Danny Thogmartin, David Watson, and Eric Hoch, posted a score of 19 under par, an incredible feat!
The helicopter ball drop after the tournament was definitely the high point of the day as golfers and non-golfers gathered for the chance to win $500. Marc Wrona, with lucky number 87, walked away with a pocket full of cash. Dennis Van Grol was the highest bidder to ride in the helicopter with friend, Nick Shappell who dropped the balls. If you didn’t win, talk to them!
Baskets and services filled one corner of the clubhouse for raffle items. Such goodies as gift certificates, bottles of wine made in Hidden Meadows, golf outings, and a variety of alcohol-themed baskets were temptations for all.
Over twenty-five friends and family members joined the golfers for a lovely buffet dinner. Many lingered to share golf stories long after the meal was served.
The Foundation is grateful to Boulder Oaks Golf Club owner, Peter Kim, and Mike Skala for offering to host a golf tournament in support of the median beautification project. Let’s do it again next year!
